DAN SCHACHNER
THE STORY
After his unceremonious firing from the NFL in 2010 for being “too soft” on the players,
Dan decided to set his referee sights a little lower. About five feet lower.
As the official Puppy Bowl Referee for the past 15 years, Dan has been at the helm of the biggest, longest-running call-to-adoption event in the world. Puppy Bowl XXII was another huge success, with over 12 million viewers tuning in and begging the question "how do they top themselves next year?"

Promoting Puppy Bowl has become as intense as the game itself, with appearances on The Today Show, CNN, Good Morning America, Watch What Happens Live, and the New York Times.

When not officiating, Dan is best known as the daily in-show announcer for the Drew Barrymore Show. He also creates regular dog content on his instagram channel @danschachner.

A long time advocate for animal rescue and fostering, Dan enjoys hosting fundraisers for rescue charities across the country. In 2018 he was awarded the “Animal Welfare Hero” award from the Baltimore Humane Society.

As a spokesperson for pet safety, pets in pop culture, pet adoption, pet fostering, and dog trivia, he has has collaborated with brands such as Wisdom Panel, Orbitz, Stella and Chewy’s, Subaru, Petco and Xfinity, among others.
